OmniGIF
Animated Text GIF Maker
By Calvin Sun
Type your words, pick typewriter, scroll, blink, bounce, or rainbow, and download an animated text GIF. Nothing is uploaded — the preview you see is the animation that gets encoded.
Presets
Presets change style and animation only. Your text stays as typed.
Max 150 characters (similar to other text GIF makers). Use Enter for new lines. Chinese, English, and emoji are supported.
Uses the same local font presets as other OmniGIF text tools.
Auto fits the canvas. Manual keeps the size you set and will not be overwritten.
Only used in Manual mode.
One main effect at a time. The exported GIF uses the same animation as the preview.
10, 15, or 20 FPS. Higher FPS is smoother and makes a larger file.
Preview scales to fit; export uses these exact pixels.
GIF transparency is on or off only — not true semi-transparent pixels.
Preserve keeps transparent pixels; Solid fills them with a color.
Fills transparent areas when using Solid mode.
Higher quality means better color fidelity and larger files.
Keep the FPS delay, or override it.
Enter a delay between 20 and 10000 ms.
How many times the GIF should repeat.
Enter how many extra repeats (0 = infinite).
About this text to GIF maker
- • Type words and export typewriter, scroll, blink, bounce, scale, wave, or rainbow GIFs
- • Preview and download share the same canvas renderer — no CSS-only mock animation
- • Works with Chinese, English, emoji, and multi-line text in your browser
- • Files stay on your device. This is not an AI scene generator and does not need an uploaded GIF
GIF uses a limited palette and binary transparency. Soft shadows and fades look best on a solid background. Keep text within 150 characters; large canvases and high FPS increase file size.
How to make an animated text GIF
1. Type your text
The page opens with a live Hello preview. Replace it with any line or paragraph. Press Enter for a new line.
2. Choose an effect
Pick a preset or an effect such as typewriter or scroll. Only settings that apply to the current effect are shown.
3. Adjust style and canvas
Set font, color, alignment, background, and size. Auto fit keeps the text inside the canvas; Manual locks your font size.
4. Download the GIF
Export uses the same frames as the preview. Check the file size, then download omnigif-animated-text.gif.
Effects you can export
Each effect is encoded into the GIF frames. The preview is not a separate CSS animation.
- Typewriter
Characters appear in order using grapheme clusters, so emoji stay intact. Layout is measured from the full text so the block does not jump while typing.
- Scroll
Text enters from one side of the canvas and leaves the other. Path length uses the real text bounds, so long lines can fully travel across.
- Fade, blink, bounce, scale, wave, rainbow
Fade holds then disappears; blink uses a gentle on/off rhythm; bounce and scale keep motion inside the canvas; wave offsets each character; rainbow cycles hue seamlessly.
Text to GIF guide
A text to GIF maker turns typed words into a looping animated GIF. OmniGIF’s Animated Text GIF Maker is for motion on the letters themselves — typewriter, marquee, blink — not AI scenes and not captions on an existing clip.
"The GIF format allows an area of the output screen to be rendered transparent."— W3C GIF89a specification
- Type a line or paragraph and export an animated text GIF
- Choose typewriter, scroll, fade, blink, bounce, scale, wave, or rainbow
- Preview and encode share one canvas renderer
- Optional transparent background with binary GIF transparency
Use it for greetings, simple announcements, and short looping captions you can drop into chat or social posts.
The maker samples the same time-based renderer used in the live preview, then hands frames to the existing in-browser GIF encoder.
"The HTML <canvas> element provides a resolution-dependent bitmap canvas for rendering graphs, game graphics, or other visual images on the fly."— MDN Canvas API
- Layout first. The full text is measured and wrapped once, including typewriter sequences, so lines do not reflow as characters appear.
- Time, then frames. Each effect maps elapsed time to position, opacity, or color. Export samples that function at 10, 15, or 20 FPS.
- Local encode. Frames are quantized with the site’s GIF encoder. Transparent loops restore the background each frame to limit ghosting.
Cancel stops frame rendering. Encoding uses web workers; if you cancel after that stage, OmniGIF discards the result rather than leaving a mixed file.
The presets on this page are starting points, not separate URLs. Keep your own text and switch looks.
- Typewriter greeting. A Hello (or 你好) line that types on, holds, and loops — useful for welcome stickers.
- Scrolling announcement. A longer sentence that travels across the canvas so every character gets screen time.
- Rainbow or bounce title. Short display words with hue cycling or a controlled bounce that stays inside the canvas.
Download the GIF and reuse it anywhere animated GIF is accepted. Compress it later if a chat app needs a smaller file.
Frequently asked questions
No. You type the words yourself and OmniGIF animates those letters. It does not call an image model or invent a scene. If you need captions on an existing GIF, use Add Text to GIF instead.
Yes. Choose a transparent background and Preserve transparency. GIF only stores fully transparent or fully opaque pixels, so fades and soft shadows will not look like the live preview. A solid background is more accurate for those effects.
Yes. Multi-line Chinese, English, symbols, and emoji are laid out with grapheme splitting and wrapping. Load the font before export so preview and file match.
Use FPS (10, 15, or 20) plus the effect timing: time per character for typewriter, loop duration for scroll and bounce, or fade/blink phase lengths. GIF delays are stored in hundredths of a second, so 15 FPS is quantized to a nearby delay.
No. Layout, animation, and GIF encoding run in your browser. You can use the tool without an account.
