Since September 2025, OmniGIF has been a privacy-first suite of free online GIF tools for converting Live Photos to GIF, extracting frames, and converting between GIF, PNG, WebP, and APNG — without installing desktop software or uploading files to a remote server. Every tool runs locally in your browser so your files stay on your device.
"The Graphics Interchange Format defines a protocol intended for on-line transmission and interchange of raster graphic data in a way that is independent of the hardware used in their creation or display."— W3C GIF89a Specification
If you need a browser-based GIF maker and analyzer that keeps files private, OmniGIF covers the most common conversion and frame workflows in one place.
Browser-based GIF processing means your images never leave your device: OmniGIF uses client-side libraries so conversion happens locally — 0 uploads to OmniGIF servers.
"WebP lossless images are 26% smaller in size compared to PNGs. WebP lossy images are 25-34% smaller than comparable JPEG images at equivalent SSIM quality index."— Google WebP documentation
For quick GIF edits and format conversion, local browser tools reduce privacy risk while keeping the workflow as simple as upload → adjust → download.
Choose GIF for maximum compatibility, WebP or APNG when you need smaller files or richer color, and PNG when you need a single high-quality still frame with alpha transparency.
"PNG is an extensible file format for the lossless, portable, well-compressed storage of raster images. PNG provides a patent-free replacement for GIF and can also replace many common uses of TIFF."— W3C PNG Specification
OmniGIF includes converters in both directions so you can start from GIF, PNG, or APNG and pick the format that matches your audience and file-size goals.
Each OmniGIF tool follows the same pattern: you select a file in the browser, the page decodes and processes frames locally, then you download the result — typically under common upload limits such as 10MB for GIFs or 50MB for Live Photo video.
Because decoding and encoding run on your device, OmniGIF can offer free conversion without storing your media on our servers — a practical fit for privacy-sensitive creative work.
Yes. OmniGIF's GIF conversion and frame tools are free to use in the browser. There is no paid unlock for core conversion, and downloads are not watermarked.
No. Processing is designed to run locally in your browser. Your files are not uploaded to OmniGIF servers for conversion, which helps keep personal or confidential media private.
Yes. The free OmniGIF extension works on Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Right-click or pick any image on a webpage and send it straight to OmniGIF tools. Install from the Chrome Web Store or Edge Add-ons, or use the offline package at omnigif.com/extension.
A GIF frame uses a palette of up to 256 colors, as defined by the GIF89a specification. That is why gradients and photos can look posterized in GIF form, while PNG, WebP, or APNG often look smoother.
Convert GIF to WebP when you need a smaller animated file for websites or apps and your audience supports WebP. Google reports WebP can be roughly 25–34% smaller than comparable JPEG images at similar quality, and lossless WebP is often about 26% smaller than PNG.
Export the Live Photo as a short video (MOV/MP4), then use OmniGIF's Live Photo to GIF tool. Typical Live Photos capture about 1.5–3 seconds of motion; you can trim duration and set FPS before downloading the GIF.
GIF to Frames is built for exporting the full sequence (or splitting/breaking an animation into images). GIF Frame Extractor focuses on selecting specific frames or ranges when you do not need every frame.
Yes. Use Multiple PNG to GIF to upload several PNG stills, set frame order and delay, and download a single animated GIF — useful for storyboards, UI mock motion, or sprite-style sequences.
